Nina Waters has led Florida’s oldest and one of its largest community foundations since 2005.  During her tenure, the Foundation’s assets and annual grantmaking have quadrupled, with total assets of $384 million and annual grants to the community of $47 million at the end of 2018. Nina’s accomplishments include the launch of a ten-year Quality Education for All Initiative and the development of the Foundation’s first giving circle, the Women’s Giving Alliance.

Nina currently serves on the Jacksonville Civic Council, is a member of the Jacksonville University Public Policy Institute and serves as a member of the Jacksonville University board of trustees. She served as a member of the Florida Board of Managers for Nemours Children’s Hospital, is the past chairman of the Southeastern Council of Foundations (an association of grantmakers serving 11 states in the Southeast), former President of Community Foundations of Florida, founding member of the Women’s Giving Alliance, former President of Uptown Civitan Club. She is one of Florida Trend’s 500 Most Influential Business Leaders for 2018 and 2019, the 2016 Leadership Jacksonville honoree, the 2014 recipient of the President’s Citation from OneJax Institute, was inducted into the First Coast Business Hall of Fame in 2014 and won the 2013 Florida Times-Union EVE Award for Employment.

Nina is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Jacksonville in 1976 to attend Jacksonville University. She is married to Lex Waters; their son, Alex, his wife, Erika, and grandson Ace live in Atlanta.
