Players Championship-Red Coat Volunteers Gift $10k

players donation event

THE PLAYERS Championship will be teeing off this weekend and while we’d like to wish all the players the best of luck, we’d like to give a very special “Thank You” for the generous donation! On Wednesday, October 26th Volunteers in Medicine received a surprise donation for the amount of $10,000 from THE PLAYERS Volunteer Leadership- the Red Coats! VIM was the first stop for the Red Coats where THE PLAYERS will sponsor a visit from the Precision Imaging Mobile Mammography Unit that will offer free mammograms to Jacksonville’s working, low-income and uninsured, individuals.

Here’s what the Red Coats had to say during their visit:

“As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes toward an end, we thought it only fitting to partner with Volunteers in Medicine and Precision Imaging to provide free mammograms today.”

“Today and every day, Volunteers in Medicine and its 230-plus dedicated volunteers provide free primary and specialty medical care to one of the most often overlooked group of individuals in our community– Jacksonville’s vulnerable, working, and uninsured individuals and families. Their services help to ensure that these individuals stay healthy, employed and out of our hospital emergency rooms. We applaud your volunteers and we are proud to support your mission which is so essential to our community. To further demonstrate our appreciation, and while we are here, on behalf of THE PLAYERS Championship, we would like to help you further your mission and present you with an additional donation of $10,000.”

The contribution from THE PLAYERS helps us eclipse a $50,000 matching challenge gift, so we are thrilled that the gift of $10,000 will be matched $1 for $1 and provide $20,000 to free medical care for Florida’s working uninsured!
