Volunteers in Medicine expands in new clinic (WJCT)

Volunteers in Medicine South San Marco Clinic

Volunteers in Medicine has opened a clinic in South San Marco to provide care for working people who are uninsured.

The Dorion-Burt Clinic opened Wednesday at 3728 Philips Highway, Suite 34. Volunteers in Medicine provides primary and specialty care using more than 240 volunteers each month.

Volunteers in Medicine closed for six days to transition from its long-established clinic in Downtown Jacksonville and into a new, larger facility at Emerson Street and Philips Highway. The new Dorion-Burt clinic will accommodate expanded services and include new patient exam rooms, rooms for one-on-one education, eye care, women’s services and an Innovation Room for individual and group education.

The organization hopes to have an open house Sept. 12, its official 20th Anniversary, CEO Jennifer Ryan said in a news release.
